Brief history 

History:

In accordance with the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Kirghiz SSR No.792-r dated December 23, 1963, a faculty for advanced training of doctors was opened at KSMA.

From 1963 to 1965, three associate professors and three assistants worked at the faculty, working in 6 areas to improve the qualifications of doctors.

From 1966 to 1969, in connection with increased requirements for advanced training of doctors and the need to increase their coverage, the directions and staff of teachers were increased. The Center for Continuing and Distance Education has been improved in 13 specialties, and the staff has been increased to 7 people.

In 1969, the Faculty of Postgraduate Medical Education employed 50 professors, including:

  • Professors – 3 people;
  • Associate professors – 12 people;
  • Candidates of Medical Sciences – 35 people.

In 1978, on the basis of the Faculty of Advanced Training for Doctors, the Department of Therapy and Surgery was created; advanced training courses for doctors included dental specializations; in general, advanced training for doctors was carried out in 22 specialties.

In 1999, I.K. With the opening of the Institute of Practical Pedagogy on the basis of KSMA named after I. Akhunbaev, were created advanced training courses in pedagogy and psychology of higher educational institutions. Trainings were held for teachers and postgraduate students.

In January 2019, was created a center for distance learning and advanced training. At that time, advanced training courses were conducted in 26 areas and 23 programs were prepared for licensing. Until 2022, the director of the center was Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Taalai Umetov, and since 2022 - Associate Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences Kalys Asanbekovna Nogoibaeva. In 2023, it was headed by associate professor Aliman Mamadalievna Umuralieva. Today the center has been recreated as a center for Continuing and Distance Education, it is headed by Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Ernazarova Baktygul Kochkorbaevna. Today, the Center for Continuing and Distance Education has opened and conducts training courses in 67 areas.

Goals and objectives
  • The Center for Continuing and Distance Education implements part of the educational and research goals aimed at improving and developing the pedagogical, scientific, medical and social competencies of KSMA by named I. Akhunbaev employees and medical workers.
  • The Center for Continuing and Distance Education is designed to introduce advanced biomedical knowledge, prevention technologies, innovative diagnostic and treatment methods into healthcare practice in the Kyrgyz Republic.
