Department of Otorhinolaryngology
The opening of the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute in 1939 played a huge role in almost all branches of science in Kyrgyzstan. Among the first was organized the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at 1941. The period of its foundation coincided with the Great Patriotic War (World War II). The first head of the Department was honoured science worker L. Brudnyi. From 1959 to 1976 the Department was headed by Yu. D. Vasilenko. His name is associated with a large surgery, implemented in the clinics of the republic. From 1976 to 1977 the Department was headed by Associate Professor M. X. Ibrahimov. He paid great attention to the training of young professionals. His works on ENT Oncology played an important role in the quality of care provided to the population. From 1977 to 1997 the Department was lead by Professor, Honored doctor of the Republic G. A. Feigin.
Since 1997, the Department is headed by Honored doctor of the Kyrgyz Republic, MD, Professor Vadim Aliyarovich Nasyrov. The Department has 2 Doctors of Medical Sciences; 4 Associate Professors; 11 Candidates of Medical Sciences. The staff of the Department successfully conducts medical, diagnostic, scientific , pedagogical and methodical works.
In Kyrgyzstan, the endoscopic rhinosinusopathy implemented into clinical practice in 2006 on the basis of the Department of Surgery of the Medical Center of KSMA by the staff of the Department of ENT diseases of KSMA.
Since March 2006, a lot of patients with various ENT pathology (chronic hypertrophic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis, nasal septum curvature, polypous rhinosinusitis, adenoid vegetation, chronic dacryocystitis, chronic diseases of the paranasal sinuses, etc.) have been operated with the help of new techniques and technologies.
Many times in recent years, our employees have represented the otorhinolaryngology of Kyrgyzstan at the annual scientific conferences of the International Academy of Otorhinolaryngology - head and neck Surgery. Employees of our Department make scientific reports in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Russia, USA, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, India, Austria and other countries. Within the country, on the initiative of the Department, scientific forums are regularly held, causing interest and participation of both otolaryngologists of Kyrgyzstan and foreign colleagues.
During the leading of the Department Professor Vadim Nasyrov prepared 22 candidates and 2 doctors of Sciences. Over the past 4 years, the staff of the Department performed 6 monographs, 8 guidelines in Kyrgyz, 2 in English for foreign students of KSMA, 2 in Russian; received 5 copyright certificates. Published more than 50 scientific papers in the near and far abroad.
The Department has thematic training room called "Larynx", "Ear", "Nose", "Throat" which are provided with electrified stand for the solution of situational tasks. There are equipped training rooms, an audiology room in the Medical and Diagnostic Center of KSMA. In the educational work of the Department used technical training tools: diaphanoscope, electrified stands with situational tasks and x-rays, codoscope, esophagoscope, ENT tools. The lectures are demonstrated with slides, tables, thematic patients. On practical classes posters, models, slides, visual AIDS, tables are used. In the study of ENT diseases, thematic patients are necessarily demonstrated. Much attention is paid to the development of instrumental methods of examination of ENT organs, outpatient admission of patients. The main scientific topics of the Department: ENT-Oncology; inflammatory and allergic diseases of ENT organs; bioethics and deontology in otorhinolaryngology.
