The day before, millions of Hindus around the world celebrated one of their main national holidays, the "Festival of Lights" Diwali. Diwali used to be an autumn harvest festival. And in modern India, it is called New Year's Day. Diwali is a celebration of love and achievement of goals. To understand the meaning of Diwali, you need to have an idea of the Indian legends and traditions that gave rise to this holiday.

One of the legends tells that on this day Rama returned to his hometown of Idokyu, after 14 years of exile. All the residents of the city lit lamps with "ghee" as a sign of this joyful event, so the festival was called Deepavali or Diwali, which means a series of"lit lamps". Hindus celebrate Diwali in a noisy and fun way for five days in honor of the victory of good over evil, lights and lamps are lit, gifts and sweets are given.

Indian students of the I. K. Akhunbayev KSMA do not change their traditions either. On November 7, 2018, in honor of the Diwali holiday, a festive show with the participation of international students from India was held at the Dasmiya restaurant. The rector of the Medical Academy, Indira Kudaibergenova, opened the festival program with her warm congratulations.

The guests of the festival became spectators of a colorful Indian festive concert with bright costumes, music and songs in Hindi, folk and modern dances. There was an atmosphere of friendliness and general delight in the hall. After a beautiful show, according to the Indian custom, everyone lit the lights and set off fireworks.
