The Department of Pediatric Diseases was organized in 1942.

1962-1970 there were two chairs of pediatrics - separately for medical and pediatric faculties.

Since 1970 the chair is divided into 4 separate chairs: the chair of hospital pediatrics, headed by Professor Shagan B.F. (1970-1974), Associate Professor R.Y. Tashmatova (1974-1985).
Department of Faculty Pediatrics with a course of propaedeutics of pediatric diseases, headed by Professor T.I. Pokrovskaya. --- Department of Pediatric Infections, headed by Prof. Zlatkovskaya N.M., Associate Professor Penner Y.D., Dr. Kadyrova R.M. (since 1995).
Department of Pediatric Surgery, headed by Prof. V.S.Kononov (1970-1997), Prof. H.I.Abdurakhmanov (since 1997-2002) Dr. T.O. Omurbekov (since 2002).
The chair of pediatric diseases of the medical faculty was further headed by docent P.P.Afanasenko (1970-1977), docent O.M.Mirshakirov (1977-1994), professor S.D.Bokonbaeva (since 1995).
From 1992 to 1997 the department was headed by Professor K.K. Kozhonazarov - a highly qualified specialist in the field of pediatric gastroenterology and endoscopy, who made a great contribution to the development and improvement of methods of treatment of peptic ulcer disease of the stomach, 12-peritoneum and gastroduodenitis in children.

Published more than 150 scientific works, 4 monographs, 12 methodological developments, had patents for invention and rationalization proposals. He was awarded Honorary Diplomas of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, an excellent health care worker, an honored doctor of the republic.

From 1997-2011 the department was headed by Professor S.S. Bakasov. He was a highly qualified specialist in the field of pediatric cardio-rheumatology. He conducted a large number of scientific expeditions to all climatogeographical regions of our republic to study cardiovascular diseases in school-age children. He has developed measures to improve the health of schoolchildren in the Kyrgyz Republic. He has published 176 scientific works, 32 methodical developments and 1 monograph. He was awarded Certificates of Honor of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Science, an excellent worker of health care and education. In 2008 he was awarded the title "Teacher of the Year". Prepared 6 candidates of sciences.

Since 2011, the department is headed by Alymbaev Erkin Shakirovich, Doctor of Medical Sciences, excellent public health worker of the Kyrgyz Republic.

3) for the faculty of MPA - "Pediatric Diseases".

4) For the faculty of "Medicine with English language teaching": "Diseases of Early Childhood", "Pediatric Nephrology", "Pediatric Endocrinology", "Pediatric Gastroenterology", "Polyclinic Pediatrics"

На сегодняшний день на кафедре выполняется 9 научных работ на соискание степени кандидата медицинских наук.

Constantly published scientific articles, methodological recommendations, in addition, the department annually holds scientific and practical conferences and is the organizer of the "Games of Pediatricians" and NIRS, actively participates in the "Days of Science", as well as students travel to international conferences and annually receive prizes.

We held the VII International "Games of Pediatricians 2022" in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, which were held in our "Alma mater" Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I. K. Akhunbaev. I. K. Akhunbaev. I would like to note that the 1st Games of pediatricians were held in the distant 2016.
