In 1981 was opened the docent course in pediatric dentistry, in 1983 it was transformed into the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. From 1983 to 2000, Professor Abdrakhmanov S. A. headed the Department. In 1963 he graduated from the Voronezh State Medical Institute and in 1968 he graduated from the Graduate School of the Kiev State Medical Institute. In the same year he defended his thesis, and then his doctoral. In 1985, he was the chief freelance pediatric dentist of the Ministry of health of the Kyrgyz Republic. In 2000 the Department was abolished and reorganized in 2005. The head was appointed Orozbekov S. B.

In 1981, Orozobekov S. B. in Leningrad under the guidance of Professor B. L. Pavlova  defended his thesis on "Clinical signs and treatment of congenital pus and spleen in children of the Kyrgyz SSR, its distribution".He also has developed a classification of the palate and jaw in children. Since 1986, he is an associate Professor in the Department of pediatric dentistry, since 1998 headed the Department of pediatric dentistry of Kyrgyz State Medical Institute of Advanced training. In 2005 he defended his doctoral thesis and headed the Department of pediatric dentistry of KSMA.

Since 2008 head of the Department became Gulnara Cholokova. In 1971 she graduated from KSMI and passed her postgraduate studies in Moscow. In 1985, under the guidance of Professor D. M.Karalnik defended her thesis on “Clinical and laboratory studies of the influence of various additives on the properties of silver amalgam.” In the period from 2004-2010, she is the chief freelance pediatric dentist o the Ministry of health.

Unit Achievements and Additional Details:

The department annually holds Olympiads in orthodontics, pediatric surgical and pediatric therapeutic dentistry for 2 - 5 courses of the Faculty of Dentistry.

The staff of the department participate in the organization of congresses of dentists of the Kyrgyz Republic, conferences, master classes, in international congresses FDI.
