Master's Degree Grant at Nagasaki University, Japan

The Department of Disaster and Radiation Medical Sciences (DRMS) is a joint master's course consisting of a curriculum jointly provided by Nagasaki University and Fukushima Medical University. Graduates of the course are awarded a master's degree in the joint name of these two universities.

As a result of negotiations and cooperation between KRJC and Nagasaki University (Japan), Nagasaki University together with JICA allocated a scholarship quota for graduates of KSMU to study for the two-year magitera program Disaster and Radiation Medical Sciences at Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Master Course (Two Years). The grant place will be provided exclusively for the student of KSMU.

The training costs will be covered by a grant from JICA.

Training method

In principle, classes in the course of medical sciences are conducted in English. However, students can also attend classes in Japanese offered for the medical sciences course at the Fukushima University Medical Center.

As for the classes offered by Fukushima Medical University, students attend distance classes using a video conferencing system.

Requirements for completing the course

Students must attend school for 2 years or longer, receive 34 credits or more, receive the necessary instructions for conducting research and pass the examination of the master's thesis and final exam. The examination of the master's thesis can be replaced by their academic achievements, such as the publication of a peer-reviewed journal, presentation at a conference and other similar events that are considered superior to the results of the master's thesis when the faculty meeting approves it. In addition, students whose achievements were recognized at the faculty meeting are allowed to complete the course if they attend school for more than 1 year.

Required loans

① Basic subjects: 12 credits or more 8 credits in compulsory subjects, 4 credits or more in elective subjects

② Specialized subjects : 12 credits or more 4 credits in compulsory subjects, 4 credits in compulsory elective subjects, 4 credits or more in elective subjects

③ Specialized training: 4 credits or more

④ Research project: 6 credits

⑤ Optional subject

Students who have not studied subjects related to medicine (students who graduated from the Faculty of Economics, Psychology, Education, Natural Sciences and Engineering, etc. Or students who have completed a master's degree in these specialties) must take a basic medicine course (2 credits) to get an idea of basic knowledge in medical sciences in the first semester of the first year.

⑥ More than 10 points out of 34 or more must be in subjects offered by Fukushima University.

Training program for a certified Radiological nursing Specialist

Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences offers a certified Radiological Nursing Specialist training program. Candidates must have a nurse's license.

The necessary loans must be provided separately.

Standards for the establishment of higher education institutions (article 14) (Application of a special case)

The Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences may, if deemed particularly educationally necessary, conduct classes or conduct research instructions at night or at other appropriate times. Students who desire such an organization can attend classes and receive instructions to conduct research at night or at other appropriate times in addition to daytime after discussion with their supervisors. In principle, an agreement should be reached between period VI (6:00 pm – 7:30 pm) and (7:40 pm – 9:10 pm) on weekdays.
