Brief overview

The Humboldt Foundation sponsors scientists and scholars, irrespective of academic discipline and nationality to pursue their research project in German centers of sciences.  The Humboldt Foundation:  - promotes academic cooperation between excellent scientists and scholars from abroad and from Germany  - research fellowships and research awards allows scientists and scholars to come to Germany to work on a research project they have chosen themselves together with a host and collaborative partner  - as an intermediary organization for German foreign cultural and educational policy the foundation promotes international cultural dialogue and academic exchange.

Application requirement

 Postdoctoral researchers:

• completed doctorate – or equivalent academic qualification during the last four years

• published in academic journals and by publishing houses that are reviewed according to international standards

• agreement by academic host

• independent research proposal

• knowledge of German and/or English

 Experienced researchers:

• independent academic activity, e.g. as an assistant professor 

• comprehensive list of academic publications with own, clearly defined academic profile

• agreement by academic host

• independent research proposal

• knowledge of German and/or English
